CAO Sculptures is the home of British Sculptor Caroline Oakley. Primarily a ceramic artist Caroline’s early influences and inspiration was from Surrealism and can be seen in a number of her pieces. However her artwork and creativity is not tethered to any one particular style and her portfolio of work is diverse and stimulating.
Caroline had several prerequisites for her website. She wanted to be able to display both a gallery of her works, but also individual pages for each piece. She also wanted to be able to sell her products online herself. A blog/news section and events section was also required. It was important that she be able to add produts, artworks and news posts herself. Carolines artworks would also need to be photographed for the website.
As Caroline needed to be able to simply add content to the site we opted for WordPress as the base Content Management System. There is several options available for e-commerce systems within WordPress but the system we opted or is the market leader and by far the best supported. As Caroline had very specific requirements for the individual pages for her artworks we created this from scratch adding inputs in the administration area for common elements making it easier to add content. The same approach was taken with the blog/news section, and the events section. We created a common theme throughout the site to make navigation simple and give a cohesive feel whilst viewing the site. Photographs of Caroline’s artwork was taken on site using mobile studio lights, pop up light tents and a Nikon Digital Camera. The images were graded in the studio and finally added to the website.
