DeepSeaGreen are a garage-rock band from London formed in late 2008. The four piece is made up of brothers Jon and Daniel Jefford (on guitar and drums respectively), Trent Halliday (vocals, guitar) and Marco Menestrina (bass).Their music draws on a range of influences but especially 60’s/70’s garage, blues and psyche, with aspects of surf and noise. They have since gigged extensively in and around London, and in 2010 released their debut record, which they follow up with the EP ‘Valsorda’, released in April the following year.
The band wanted their website design to look very retro, almost like it was from the 60’s or 70’s. They wanted a blog to keep the fans up to date and an events section to let people know of upcoming gigs. Being a band they wanted to include the facility for people to listen to their music and watch their music videos, and concert videos. They also requested a shop section to sell their albums and band merchandise.
As the site would be regularly updated it was clear that a CMS system would be needed. We opted for WordPress one of the leading Open Source Content Management systems as several of the band members had previous experience of the system. A plugin was created to connect to the bands Soundcloud account that would automatically update the page as new material was put on their Soundcload account. As the band had already posted videos to Youtube plugin was created to feed the site page with all the bands latest videos and allow them to be played from within the website. We created a gig/venue section was created with links to venue information and upcoming dates. The bands online shop utilised the popular WordPress e-commerce system Woocommere. Custom templates were created throughout the site unifying all the sites elements.
